De-Icing Control System and Snow Detector
DELIVERS
Automatic Reliability
Rugged Sensitivity
Proven, Patented Technology
User Friendly Flexibility

Our De-Icing Control System (DICS) is engineered to be the best of its kind and includes four key components:
MASTER CONTROL SENSING PROBE

Housed in a NEMA 4X  enclosure that can be  installed outdoors or  inside, the Master Control  contains  industrial grade  components and  electronic circuitry that  switches de-icing equipment on or off and supports the other DICS components that make the system completely reliable. It can be supplied for any AC power supply, depending on specific Model Numbers.

Detects outdoors whether snow or other icing conditions are present. Sensing probes can be placed at any critical location such as gutters, roof edge, open air, etc., and can be placed up to 2000 feet from the Master Control. Operating on 24 volts supplied by the Master Control, up to four Sensing Probes can be used with each Master Control. It operates down to
-52°F (-47°C).
THERMO SWITCH MONITOR

The Thermo Switch is  mounted outside. It  activates the Sensing  Probe at 36°F/2°C and turns  on an amber light on the  monitor.

The Monitor is mounted indoors and indicates with  pilot lights when:
 • Power is supplied to the  Master Control
 • Freezing temperature  (36°F/2°C) is present
 • De-icing equipment is  activated - either by the  DICS or manual over-ride button. Includes an over-ride button to activate de-icing independently of the DIC's Sensing Probe.
AUTOMATICALLY
DETECTS

snow and icing conditions.

OPERATES and controls de-icing

       heaters and equipment.

ALERTS USERS when

       • System is powered-up.

       • Freezing conditions are present.

       • De-icing heaters and equipment are          operating - either automatically of          manually with over-ride.

ALLOWS USERS to operate

de-icing heaters and equipment        independently of the automatic system        using an over-ride button

Automatic Reliability Proven Technology

Spectrum Infrared's De-Icing Control System (DICS) automatically activates and controls roof, gutter and other de-icing heaters or equipment when outdoor icing conditions are present.
The DICS automatically determines whether now, blowing snow, freezing rain, or other icing conditions are present and then immediately activates de-icing for a pre-set time period, for instance for the duration of the icing conditions plus up to 10 more hours.

The DICS uses Spectrum's patented, proven technology and provides reliable, trouble-free automatic de-icing control. Spectrum's technology has been specified by major railroads for over 20 years to automatically control critical de-icing equipment such as track switch heaters, crib heaters, etc. Railroads exclude other snow detector and insist on SPectrum Infrared's snow detector because of its super reliability and freedom from problems.

DICS Overview

1. Models available in all standard voltages.
2. Standard industrial components are use and available at local electrical distributors.
3. Includes two 30 amp, NO contacts to turn on, whatever load or contactors are required.
4. The very responsive sensing probe may be mounted as far as 2000 feet from controller.
5. Up to 3 probes may be used within the 2000 feet.
6. The monitor allows the user to view conditions at a glance.

• System on
• Freezing Temperatures (36°F)
• Weather de-icing equipment is activated
• Manual system override button to activate de-icing independently of the DIC's.
